Matthew 3:17 (ESV)
and behold, a voice from heaven said, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.'
Talk About It
After John baptized Jesus, God the Father spoke out loud for everyone to hear. He wanted everyone to know that Jesus was truly His Son and that He loved Him very much. Even though John felt nervous and unworthy to have such a big job, God was doing something special through him.
Sometimes we might feel too small or not good enough for big jobs God gives us—maybe things like encouraging a friend, helping at home, or sharing Jesus’ love with others. But God can use anyone who is willing to obey Him, even when they feel scared or not important. God loves you just as much as He loves Jesus, and He wants you to remember that you are His child too. When you trust God and say “yes” to what He’s calling you to do, He promises to be with you, help you, and give you everything you need. Don’t let feeling small stop you from following God’s plan!
For Parents to Explain
Dear God, thank You for loving us and using us, even when we feel unworthy or small. Help us trust that You are with us, just like You were with Jesus and John. Amen.

Papier-Mâché “Small Seed” Craft
- Use paper and glue to shape a small seed (or use a bean/seed).
- Decorate it and hold it in your hand.
- Talk about how God grows big things from small beginnings, just like a seed grows into a plant.
- Pray that God will use your small steps to do great things!
Family Prayer
Invite each person to tell God something they feel too small or nervous to do, and ask for His help and courage.
